About SCAYFL Mentor Program
We are pleased that our youth mentoring program, South Carolina American Youth Football League Mentor Program, is now an active member of MENTOR's National Mentoring Database (NMD) and volunteer referral service. The NMD features a network of over 4,000 youth mentoring programs across the nation.
Thousands of prospective volunteers visit Mentoring.org each month and use a zip code search to find mentoring programs in their community. As an active member of the NMD, your program information appears to those searching within a radius of your program zip code(s), and you will receive volunteer referrals via email from prospective volunteers who have expressed an interest in your program. Remember to set your email to allow mail from @mentoring.org so that you will not miss your volunteer referrals.
Using the volunteer information provided via e-mail, we request that you contact those prospective mentors directly after receiving their inquiry. If you find that you are unable to contact prospective volunteers, please let us know right away so that volunteer inquiries do not remain unanswered.

A matter of trust. Mentoring is a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee. A mentor is an adult who, along with parents, provides a young person with support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement and constructive example. Mentors are good listeners, people who care, people who want to help young people bring out strengths that are already there. A mentor is not a foster parent, therapist, parole officer, or cool peer.
Comprehensive Health and Family Services provide South Carolina American Youth Football League (SCAYFL) through the use of volunteers coaches for our youth football/cheerleader program. All coaches must be certified as a National Youth Sports Coach by the National Youth Sports Coaches Association Training Course. National Background Checks will be ran by Priority Research which is use by National Youth Coach Association and Non-Profit Organizations to run National Background Checks on all volunteers and staff.
Comprehensive Health and Family Services founded SCAYFL in 2008 with two goals in mind to ensure that youth who normally can not afford to participate in youth football and cheer program due to not having the finance to afford the price of the uniforms and equipment and to bring together all youth athletes to compete through out the state of South Carolina, other states teams and to compete in AYF and USA Football National Championships Games.

CHFS provide mentors for South Carolina American Youth Football League (SCAYFL)depends on communities vounteers to serve as: coaches for our football/cheer team, administrative staff, events coordinators, tutors, and mentors.

South Carolina American Youth Football League
SCAYFL is a charter member league of American Youth Football (AYF) and a member of United States Football League (USA). SCAYFL, its volunteers and sponsors in the state of South Carolina share the dream that every child who wants to play football or cheer has the opportunity despite financial constraints. This prompted the "Circle of Giving Back" concept. Each child enrolled in the SCAYFL program is encouraged to remember and thank their parents and the many volunteers who selflessly give of themselves to their communities in which they live in order to model and promote community involvement to tomorrow’s leaders.
We provide mentors and tutors as a essential component of our after school program, which also consist of schools liaisons who contact all schools to get a copy of the students enroll in our program homework assignments. Volunteer tutor and teacher will help those who need help with completing their homework. We feel this will help in twofold: help the child achieve better grades and help the school system improve its dropout rate. We will compete statewide and nationally. The winners of state championship will compete against other states championships teams. Comprehensive Health and Family Services and our sponsors will sponsor charter buses, hotels and food expenses.
SCAYFL cheerleaders squads will compete statewide and nationally. The winner of the state championship will compete nationally against other states championships teams. Comprehensive Health and Family Services and our sponsors will cover charter buses, hotel and food expenses.
AMERICAN YOUTH FOOTBALL (AYF)
AYF has 3 distinct divisions of play for all of it's National Tournament Membership. In each case Kids compete with kids of similar age and/or size.
AYF believes in building communities of strong leaders, by encouraging and rewarding strong academic achievement, teaching the lessons of dedication, honest effort, and fair play, special athletes emerge to become the leaders of our great country.
USA FOOTBALL NETWORK
USA Football was endowed by the NFL and NFL Players Association in 2002 and is composed of members – youth coaches, league commissioners and game officials – residing in all 50 states. USA Football is the Official Youth Football Development Partner of the NFL and NFLPA. The independent non-profit organization hosts more than 100 football training events annually offering education for coaches and game officials, skill development for players and resources for youth football league commissioners.
USA Football awards more than $1 million annually in equipment grants to youth football leagues and high school football programs based on merit and need. The organization also is the only sports entity to offer as much as $500,000 to subsidize youth leagues' volunteer background checks to help safeguard youth football participants and eradicate sexual predators from the youth football community.
Since 2006, USA Football has trained tens of thousands of youth football coaches across the U.S. through full-day coaching schools and its Certified Coaching Education Program (CCEP), a two-hour online curriculum featuring computer animation and chapter quizzes to strengthen comprehension.
USA Football also bolsters high school football, which more than doubles the next-played sport of high school boys. USA Football was commissioned by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), based in Indianapolis, to help create an online varsity football coaching education course available to the country's high school football coaches and state athletic associations.
USA Football exclusively assembles America's national teams for international competitions conducted by football's international federation (IFAF), which consists of more than 50 member countries spanning five continents.
Aside from its national team program, USA Football does not operate leagues or teams.
Carl Peterson, a successful football scout, coach and NFL team executive for more than 40 years, is USA Football's chairman.
